DAN GORDON Observations: Time and Place

Opening reception: February 7th, from 5:30pm - 9pm (First Thursday)
February 7th Thru March 4th

The exhibition Observations: Place and Time documents patterns and symbols explored by Dan Gordon, a photographer with over forty years of experience in making photographs. His images record a disappearing rural way of life as manifested in its material culture: an ancient automobile all but subsumed by the earth, an abandoned grain elevator that no longer indexes the precarious fortunes of area farmers.

My Flamenco: a dancer, her city and her art

Opening Reception: February 7 from 5pm - 9pm (First Thursday)
January 1 to February 28

My Flamenco juxtaposes the tradition of southern  Spain's loved dance form, flamenco, with the corporate, fast-paced culture of Calgary - the hometown of local flamenco dance artist and photographed subject, Rosanna Terracciano.  Brian Sew's stunning photographs, which depict Terracciano dressed in full flamenco attire moving through day-to-day Calgary activities, project a sensation of isolation, and awkwardness, offering the viewer thought-provoking insight into the realities of practicing an art so far removed from its cultural  birthplace.
