DESCRIPTION:AXIS Contemporary Art presents Recent Work by Othon\nCastaned
 a\n \nArtist\nStatement \n&ldquo\;The\nabstracted body and sensuality\, 
 naked in the force of its simplified form\,\nreminds me of the geometry 
 with which I determine my work. It is from the\ntwisted and wavy forms o
 f consecutive circularity that I intent to communicate\nmy interest in t
 he relations between the human body\, nature and things and the\ncontinu
 ous sensuality of life. \nEverything is construction and setting\;\nrela
 tionships between bodies and their context\, between the skin-surfaces w
 hich\ndescribe them and their containers. The assignable limits always f
 low and the\ntruth and conceptions of the world\, move unexpectedly as t
 hat of art itself.\nThus\, in the roundedness contrasted to the\northogo
 nal\, I try to communicate the change continuum\; the constant in the\ne
 phemeral that describes us with endless force in itself and which descri
 bes\nthe passing of time through flesh.\nVolume and materiality\, is the
  constant to\nconstruct my pieces like objects that refer to the emotion
 al\, to the sensual\nand to the erotic. The body and its physical\, geom
 etric\, and existential\npossibilities\, deprived of its daily forms\, i
 s the syntax whereupon I integrate\nmy language to counterpoint between 
 the natural and the artificial\, project and\nimprovisation\, feminine a
 nd masculine\, pain and pleasure\, like complementary\nopposed\, dichoto
 mies . Thus I create sexed matter of abstract form\, which is\nthe conti
 nuity of the &ldquo\;me&rdquo\; who transform his context." \n"...Space\
 , reason\, intervention\, form and\nconstruction are aspects that I adop
 t to create my proposal\, in a way so that I\ntreat the bi-dimensional o
 r three-dimensional work like architectures that show\npossible emotiona
 l states and that I project through natural or transformed\nmatter&rdquo
 \;.     \nVisual artist and architect from the Habitat Faculty of the Sa
 n\nLuis Potosi University in\nMexico\,\nCastaneda has worked extensively
  in printmaking\, painting\, installation and\nconstructing techniques t
 hat he uses in his work as a visual artist and a\nscenery designer.  He 
 has exhibited more\nthan 40 times since 1991.
