Keystone Art Gallery
Website: http://www.keystoneartgallery.com
At Keystone Art Gallery we stage regular exhibitions of works by local, national and international artists. Keystone is an eclectic gallery and the diversity of work delights visitors. It is not uncommon to see a significant number of modestly priced works by many different artists.
The depth of inventory is
substantial and the works range from small intimate original prints to large
paintings and everything in between. Keystone Art Gallery represents a
significant number of artists and also deals in secondary market artwork sales
from pre-Confederation to present day. The range of works will include
both representational and non-representational works on canvas, paper and
three-dimensional works. Keystone is always looking to increase the
quality of work handled and regularly reviews submissions by serious artists
who work within the figurative, representational and non-representational
traditions and have professional art training and/or a history of
representation by serious galleries with a particular strength in fine-art and
original printmaking. Keystone will occasionally also have themed
exhibitions where the opportunities for emerging artists are more
flexible. We like to encourage artists at all stages of their
careers. For a physically small gallery – the breadth and quality of work
on display and available is unparalleled in the City.
The gallery director, Daniel Lindley, has been active in the Calgary commercial
gallery market since 1988. This is the fourth gallery he has been
involved with, each with increasing levels of responsibility.
Over the years Mr. Lindley has placed works ranging from works produced by
students in art colleges and universities to group period paintings by members
of the Group of Seven and other investment grade artists (both Canadian and
international). Mr. Lindley’s previous directorship was of a
long-standing Calgary based gallery which when he resigned during Spring 2007
was a full member of the Art Dealers Association of Canada. When he
resigned and was hired to lead Keystone – a very significant percentage of the
artists followed him within days enabling Keystone to have a full stable upon
opening four days later. Keystone also has a framing department and
regularly provides art consulting and evaluations for insurance purposes.
Mr. Lindley is very active in the
Calgary visual art community and currently serves as the chair of the City of
Calgary Civic Art Collection Committee (second term). In addition to this
he is also a member of the Calgary Allied Arts Foundation board, which he has
been involved with since 2004.
His previous board commitments have also included the Triangle Gallery for
Visual Arts, The New Gallery and numerous other community and arts related
organizations.
We are located on the top floor of ArtCentral and if you are in the area please stop by to visit and introduce yourself.
